About the Course

In America, Israel, and throughout the world, societies are under immense strain from political polarization and disintegrating social trust. What might it take to heal these fractures and restore a sense of civic cohesion? Through the lens of classic rabbinic texts on returning lost property, the cautionary tale of Sodom, and the conditions for inheriting the land of Israel, we'll examine some ancient Jewish reflections on what it takes to build the social contract, and what can lead to its destruction. Tuesday, June 9; Thursday, June 11; Tuesday, June 16; Thursday, June 18 5:00–6:00 PM Pacific / 8:00–9:00 PM Eastern
