About the Course

What happens when we give ourselves permission not only to revere the Torah, but to question and wrestle with it?   Combining traditional commentary with a contemporary literary approach, this six-part course will explore the narratives of the weekly parsha – from Bereishit through Toldot – with fresh eyes. We will challenge familiar assumptions and uncover new layers of meaning in both the biblical text and ancient rabbinic interpretations. Through a new understanding of the personalities and profound humanity of the Torah’s characters, you will be invited to develop a deeper, more personally relevant connection to Torah. Closed Captioning will be available for this course. DATES: Wednesdays, Oct. 7, 14, 21, 28, Nov. 4, 11, 2026 TIME: 10:00–11:00 AM UK / 12:00–1:00 PM Israel / 8:00–9:00 PM Sydney & Melbourne Note: Due to seasonal clock changes, sessions starting from Oct. 28 will take place at: 9:00–10:00 AM UK / 11:00 AM–12:00 PM Israel / 8:00–9:00 PM Sydney & Melbourne
